User Management is a Go!

By Ryan Campbell · May 8th, 2008

User Management is officially live in Wufoo, and we say that with both excitement and relief. Emails containing feature requests come to us daily, and not surprisingly User Management has been the most requested feature. Whether it’s small businesses wanting individual logins for each user, large companies hoping to separate their account by divisions, or design shops looking for an easier way to set up an account to each of their clients — everyone had a need for User Management. With all of these use cases in mind, we have been working with a single focus to implement the feature in a way that we feel would be flexible, easy to use and priced fairly. User management is available to all $24/month Bona Fide accounts and higher.

User Management

Specifically, User Management allows for multiple email addresses to log in to the same account. Each email address, or user, can be assigned Create, View and Edit permissions on Forms, Themes and Reports. So if we want to create a user with access to only one form, and nothing else, we can do it. At the same time, it may not be desirable to micromanage every person and so keeping that in consideration, we have built in a few helpful features:

  • By just checking off one box, you can flag a user as an Admin and grant them permissions to all resources.
  • You can duplicate a user so that their permissions are easily carried over to a new user with similar access levels
  • And whenever a user has permission to create something, they are automatically assigned permissions for that item, which prevents the Account Creator from having to go in and manually assign every item.

In addition to what’s mentioned here, you can read more about our User Management offering in our documentation. We’ve got big smiles on now that we’re finally able to show you our work, so check it out and please send us your feedback!

  1. This is pretty awesome. Only thing Wufoo needs right now are conditional questions IMHO. Great work guys!

  2. I love the new design. It really shows off the fun side of your brand. BTW Kevin, there seem to be some CSS issues in Firefox 2 on the tour page.

  4. Oh, and by the way, I’ll second Juanzo’s request for conditional elements (and add my own for multi-part forms). Keep up the great work.

  6. That bug should be fixed now Josh. Thanks for reporting it.

Juanzo and Galen, we have a few more major features that we’d like to get in before logic and branching, but we agree it would be a useful addition.

  13. Is there any way to try it briefly for free? That is one the ways you convinced me to use your service - I was able to determine it made sense for my business. I have the $9/mo service now and am interested in upgrading if it would greatly benefit me. However, I’m concerned that it might not and hate to pay $24 to find out. Any chance current users could have a brief “try it for free” option?

  15. Great stuff, was waiting for this a long time. I’ve upgraded my account right away. I was wondering if there was a way (or any plans) to get Wufoo white-labeled. Just like MailBuild from CampaignMonitor.

Or at least a way to make your custom domain name. Like formbuilder.myowncompanyname.com

  16. I’m sorry, Daniel, but we really haven’t decided what we may or may not do as far as whitelabeling is concerned. Right now, we’re still pretty focused on adding some more functionality to Wufoo.

  18. Super nice implementation. Putting in my 2 cents for conditional forms!

  19. Would be great to if the $9.95 package included 2 users with the option of paying an additional fee for each additional user.

  20. It would be great if there is a functionality to manage the routing of forms from one entry user to another for review or revision. Something like user defined email hierarchy builder. Especially, if you know who you are sending the forms to be filled out and who the next person needs to edit the content and route it before the final sumbission. Is there a way to build this functionality in the forms now?

Posted 1 year ago by Julie.
  21. I’m sorry, Julie, but there is no type of routing system built into Wufoo. That might be a little more complicated than we plan on heading.

  22. Looks interesting, but I’m disappointed that you are pricing based on features and not based on number of users. Also, it’s totally unavailable for someone using it to manage a Meetup who is not running a business but instead who is just trying to organize people. Can’t you could up with some options to address those whose situation makes $24/month simply not viable?

  23. Is there plan to allow user management via API?
