Unplugged

Introduction

Wufoo Unplugged is a Windows desktop application that allows you to browse, tag, filter, search or print the data you’ve collected through your Wufoo forms even when you’re not connected to the Internet. It’s perfect for backing up your Wufoo submissions and browsing through your entries without having to log into the Wufoo website.

Getting Started

If you haven’t installed the application on your computer, you will first want to run through the installation.

Upon opening Wufoo Unplugged, you will have to log in to the program in order to start downloading your entries. Logging into Wufoo Unplugged is just like logging into Wufoo online. You’ll need an Internet connection the first time you log in so we can verify your username and password, and only Account Creators can log into Wufoo Unplugged. Once you’re logged in Wufoo Unplugged, your forms and submissions will automatically be imported, and please note that this can take a few minutes.

Once successfully logged in, you will be presented with the main Wufoo unplugged interface.

Vertical Panes

Wufoo Unplugged is divided into three vertical panes.

  • List of Forms - On the far left, you will find a list of all of the forms in your Wufoo account. Additionally, there will be a number next to each form name marking the number of unread submissions for that form.

  • List of Entries - When you select a form, the center pane will become populated with all of the entries for that form. This pane will always reflect the form that is selected in the left pane.

  • Selected Entry - On the right side, the selected entry will show. To select an entry, left click on the entry is the middle pane. After clicking, the entry in its entirety will appear in the right pane.

Searching, Filtering & Tagging

Wufoo Unplugged allows you to organize and manage your data in a few ways: searching allows you to find text in any of your submissions; filtering toggles between read and unread entries; and tagging allows for grouping of certain entries.

Searching

Search Box

Forms may be searched via the Search Box which is located at the top right of the main screen. A Search String is any text typed into the Search Box. When a Search String is entered into the Search Box, the middle vertical pane will display only entries containing the Search String. Each filtered entry contains a snippet of text with the first occurrence of the search string, and the matching string will be underlined. Clicking an entry in the middle pane causes the corresponding entry data to appear in the right pane. A search is conducted only within the currently selected form.

Tags

Tagging Dialog Box

Tags may be applied by right-clicking an entry in the middle vertical pane. When right-clicked, the Tagging Dialog Box appears. One or many tags may be added or removed via the Tagging Dialog Box by simply clicking on the color tag to be applied. This dialog box also allows a message’s read status to be toggled between ‘read’ and ‘unread’. Tags will be remembered even if you shut down the application, and can later be filtered.

Filters

Filter Toolbar Expanded

Filters narrow the entries displayed in middle vertical pane based on a tag or read status. To filter your entries, choose a filter type from the drop-down menu in the filter toolbar located at the top of the center pane. To remove filters, just reselect “All Entries” from the same filter dropdown. Also note that filtered entries apply to the selected form in the left pane. If you have two entries from separate forms tagged as “Red,” filtering by “Red” will only yield those entries that belong to the selected form.

Printing and Navigating Entries

An entry can be selected by left clicking on the desired entry in the middle pane. This will cause the entry to show in full over on the right pane. Once an entry is selected, there are two ways to quickly navigate through additional entries. First, you can use the up and down arrow. Likewise, you can also locate the pane on the far right of the screen (with the back button, forward button and print icon). Click the back and forward button will also navigate to the previous and next entry.

Printing the data from an individual submission is supported by Wufoo Unplugged. You can print a submission by selecting a form submission from the Entries pane. You can then print by going to the File Menu and selecting ‘Print’ or by clicking on the printer icon to the right of the Entry Pane.

Unplugged in the System Tray

After installing unplugged, an orange icon with a “W” in the middle will appear in your system tray. Using this icon, you can pull down more data from Wufoo without opening the full screen application. Additionally, whenever a new entry is submitted to your form, the system tray will pop up a notification message alerting you of the entry.
