Wufoo's newest features–and a sneak peek at what's next!

wufoo new features 2017Happy Summer, Wufoo aficionados! It seems like just yesterday we were making our New Year Form Resolutions. Now we’re halfway through the year!

Maybe the time flew by because we’ve been hard at work adding new Wufoo features that were at the top of your holiday wishlist. After reading through a bunch of customer emails and feature requests, we implemented FOUR, count ‘em FOUR, major changes to Wufoo in the first half of 2017. In case you missed them in our newsletters…Here they are again for your convenience!

  1. File Upload Increase

If you’ve used our file upload feature, you know what a wonderful feature it truly is. But, as many of our lovely customers pointed out to us, the 10MB size limit was a bit small.

And we agreed! So we improved on this feature by more than doubling the size of files that can be accepted per file upload field (up to 25MB from 10MB!) and quintupling the total file limit per entry (up to 100MB from 20MB) for our Bona Fide and higher plans.

  1. Custom Close Form Message

Many of our amazing, form-tastic customers like to be able to close their form, but haven’t been super fond of our “Sorry, but this form is no longer accepting submissions.”

It’s a fine message, but it didn’t have the pazazz and customization that our users know and love. Well we updated that, too! Now you can customize the message of your closed form, or set up a redirect to one of your site’s pages.

  1. Google Analytics Tracking

Perhaps one of our most awesome new features, in our humble opinion. Now you can track all your pageviews, understand user behavior, and use just about all the other GA features! Collecting this data helps you gain valuable insights into how people interact with your Wufoo form.

And as we all know… valuable insights = better business decisions.

  1. Placeholder Text

Another commonly requested customer feature that we think will improve your form experience ten-fold — Rather than just hoping your customers or clients give you the right info, be sure they know exactly what kind of answer you’re looking for!

Use Placeholder Text in your form as a handy guide to people who need to give you their info. By giving them examples and instructions within form fields, you’ll make filling out your form a breeze.

Sneak peek: The rest of 2017…and beyond!

The team’s been doing some amazing work behind the scenes to get Wufoo in tiptop shape. We’ve updated our databases so they can handle more entries and added pagination to the Form Manager to help with loading time. All these system updates help us to keep your data secure and your forms functioning splendidly.

It also laid the groundwork for all the product updates we’ve made so far… and for those features that have yet to come! We still have 6 months left of 2017 to look into commonly requested features:

  • Redesigned, mobile-friendly Wufoo account pages? Wouldn’t have been possible without some recent code updates!
  • Save-and-return feature? The database changes helped us put this on our roadmap!
  • No field limit? Our systems have been prepped for that change, too!

… we’ve said too much… (Isn’t it exciting?!)

And that’s it for your 2017 mid-year feature roundup! Everyone here at Team Wufoo would like to extend a big ol’ THANK YOU to everyone who’s ever given us feedback over the years that Wufoo’s been around.

  • Save and return!

  • I did your survey yesterday and there was a question about how low a product must cost before I think the quality must be bad. It didn’t give the option to say ‘I don’t think about it that way’. Wikipedia is free, Mozilla, Chrome and other browsers are free, a lot of great software is free and I strongly support that trend. My assessment of a good product is one that works well and doesn’t sell your details to spammers – end of story. I don’t believe in price as an indicator of quality.

  • What about the ability to filter based on whether a date field is blank?

  • Still waiting on the ability to define a name for uploaded files based on the data in the form so that they land with a meaningful name

  • What about adding multiple file uploads at once?

  • Would love the option to put an attachment PDF on the email responder message.

  • I would still like wufoo to consider adding a sign up feature that many competitors (often for free, with ads, of course) offer. And that is to have a form with particular jobs or time slots (for a blood drive, e.g.) available for sign up, wherby a person could sign up for that job or that time slot, have it “reserved” on the form (their name inserted so that the next person can see what jobs or what slots remain open). We use wufoo forms for these types of requests most often. Signup Genius has offered this for some years now, and I’m getting pushback from my members to move to such a system. Still, there are reasons to stay with wufoo, but my forms for this purpose still need a lot of manual input to make them work properly. I would also like to see the ability to embed data reports on a web page, so I can automatically show who has signed up so far for a particular event.

  • What about folder to be able to sort and organize your form properly? This is a major feature for us since so many of us use the account.

  • I would love to see an option to multi-select forms from the listing and download the entries, delete the forms, etc.

Matrika there is a cost associated with certain “free” software such as Google’s Chrome browser: https://privacy.google.com/your-data.html

The question then becomes are you satisfied with the cost versus your use of the software.

  • Great stuff wufoo!

We are very happy with the solutions you have provided and recommend your form services to all of our clients. Secure and Reliable – unlike many of the php mailscript form applications we have used with our hosting companies.

We do have a couple of feature requests – where do we send these?

  • What about a visual revamp? UI feels a bit outdated.

  • Lovely updates!! Thank you for your hard work. I also agree with adding folders, it has been a nightmare having to shift through our 300+ forms that often have similar keywords, a folder would make things so much easier. Thanks!

  • Another vote for folders for form organization! I’ve asked for this for years.

As for the survey, I thought there were a number of questions which weren’t well-constructed. Several required me to choose a value between 1 and 5 when I wanted to say it doesn’t apply — so I ended up inputting values that didn’t reflect my actual thoughts. And I was concerned that the plan level and price points shown in the survey, which are obviously under consideration by management, represent a significant increase in what we currently pay for the “Bona Fide” plan which suits our needs. Adding more users and entries per month, which I don’t need, but raising the price in the process, would be disappointing.

  • Three requests which would make life so much better for paying clients:
    1. Folders to organise the forms
    2. Ability to restrict file upload size, eg max 500KB per field
    3. Automatically checking files for viruses

    Thanks guys, love your work.

  • I’d add a vote to folders – and actually augment that with the ability to assign users to a folder instead of individual forms.

Ability to store logo’s and any other assets needed for themes. Would be great to use a single service rather than have images etc served from other domains.

  • Thank you for all the new features. I especially like the new Clear button on the filter when searching for forms. I also vote for folders to organize forms.

  • Totally agree on the folders.

Also useful to have a “Save Changes” at the top of the form when editing forms that go beyond the end of the screen.

And to be able to check whether you have emailed an entry, it shows for a second and then disappears and you have no way of double checking (that I am aware of) that you have actually sent the email.

Thank, great support and great product.

  • Hi, what about deposit ? I would like to charge a percentage of final price

Posted July 6th, 2017 by Bruno.
  • I’m still waiting for calculations… I use the forms for design/print requests and I have to create a dropdown for each quantity (one print, two prints, 3 prints, 4 prints, etc.) Would be nice if we could set a price and they could just type in a number and it would know that 3 prints at $10 each would be $30.00.

  • -No field limit… yes please!
-I echo what others have said: folders would be awesome.
-Also awesome would be the ability to ‘bulk edit’ a form… i.e. drag a whole bunch of fields up or down on the page, or delete them all en masse.
